Home page and Navigation- Danielle Morris

Here is my final project for this class. I wanted to create something that reflected my studio art work, makeup artistry and digital art work. I also wanted to show my ability to create colorful, eye catching pieces. This class was a lot of fun and inspirational.

E-card Design

This is the E-card I created for an environmental issue. The issue I chose was Global Warming and how it is effecting us here in New York. I painted the background using a painting application on my iPad and decided that it would work well with this piece. I then wanted to convey the reality of global warming by making the date "December 25" Christmas day, when kids are home and want to play in the snow; however due to global warming it does not snow often from Christmas anymore. I wanted to show that in New York City because of global warming the temperatures have been so mild, that is why I chose to place 75 degrees in the sun, and have flowers and grass blossoming in the middle of winter when it is suppose to be snowing and cold. I added an oil paint filter over the piece to blend it and give the card a textured look. I wanted to keep the message simple and to the point on the inside, as well as the back of the card; I wanted to show an eco friendly design which I was able to find on a google search and it is a butterfly globe. I then added the words 'eco friendly' inside the butterfly to tie it all together. Rather then using words, I wanted the pictures to speak to the viewer and have the viewer find the irony in the piece as well as an awareness of the future.

Book Cover

Here is the book cover and spine I created for Alicia Keys. I wanted to represent the city where she came from as well as the instrument which she is known for playing. I wanted to create something creative and different and that represented her well. The spine of the book took a lot of editing but it is my favorite part.

Childhood Obesity- Awareness Poster Redo

Here is the final piece. This consists of many layers (about 12). I took my drawing and edited it in photoshop and converted the two dimensional drawing into a 3D piece. The foods as well as the 'thinking bubble" were also converted to 3D (8 layers total are 3D). I chose a blue background to represent the somber feeling of the little boy, and stayed in the primary color scheme for the lettering which helps for it to stand out more.

Project 2- Sketches

I decided I wanted to do an awareness poster on Childhood Obesity. My concept is to have an obese child thinking about the foods that he loves (all the wrong foods) and he will be holding a piece of fruit and crying.
